That looks a bit like a block diagram, sort of a conceptual level schematic as opposed to
a detailed gate by gate schematic.
It reminds me a bit of the "block diagram" manuals for the CDC 6600
supercomputer, which shows most of the logic modules and the buses interconnecting them,
along with the relevant clock pulses (more or less accurately). But there are also the
wiring diagrams, which are the actual fully completed schematics. If you want to
understand the machine, the block diagrams are excellent; if you want to replicate it,
they are not sufficient and the wiring diagrams are actually what you need.
