idea for a universal disk interface

The IMI 7710 34 pin flat cable interface is a variant on the SMD dumb interface which could be controlled by a UDI (universal disk interface) if someone cared enough to build an adapter and then program the UDI to deal with IMI's specific track format and peculiar command/status protocol. CalComp would be easier, but the question remains would either be worth the effort given their relatively low unit shipments compared to the other interfaces?

They are if youre someone who has a machine using one of these interfaces, or e.g. the 40-pin IMI bus, or whatever else.
