DECnet License for older VAX VMS

Prior to v5.0, VAX/VMS didn’t use LMF, so as Antonio pointed out, you need a license tape. While I saw these online a few years ago, I didn’t download them at the time, and they don’t seem to be online anywhere.

Years ago, I got a MicroVAX 3 system running VAX/VMS 4.6 from an RD53. It booted once, when I went to boot the 2nd time to back it up to a TK50, the RD53 died. :-( End result, it has OpenVMS 7.2 installed on a RA73 (and hasn’t been booted in nearly 20 years).

I wanted to add my simulated 11/780 and 11/782 to my DECnet and wondered if there was a (legal of course) license workaround to install networking on an older version such as 4.4. The current PAKS will not work.Brian.
