The early ethernet schematics are best read with the a copy of the original patent (US 4,073,220) in hand. In particular, you can match up figure 5 and the explanation in the text with the schematic from Xerox. I wrote such a document decades ago but it has vanished along with many other bits. Has anyone interviewed Tat Lam about the transceiver?
