I worked with the guy who did the Nubus token ring card. He originally used the TI chip set, then had to switch to IBM's
because TI's didn't work thanks to undocumented stuff in IBM's implementation. Apple's LU 6.2 was no fun at all.
Like you said, a lot of sunk costs for very few sales.
