Siemens made minicomputers.  I ran into one at the TU Eindhoven (ME department) where it controlled a precision plotter.  16 bit machine, with hex digits 0-9 and B-G.

That machine was used to draw neat graphics used on Dutch stamps (and maybe also paper money?) of that era.
