I was considering doing something like that before I decided to buy the hydraulic lift truck. I think it's a fine idea, and could result in something better suited for racking/unracking. I think a dedicated rack lift could also be smaller when stored and lighter to move around. If somebody builds one, I'd love to see what they came up with.
