You see the same issues with collectible cars and motor cycles. Generally whilst it might be fun, and even mentally rewarding, to restore such an item, it will almost always be financially unrewarding. The cost of materials alone out weights the any increase in value. As for this pile of junk, I wonder if some crowd funding to restore and run this might be successful.
