AFAIK that was the standard software distribution format for the
machines. I never did much AM support but my 1st job was at a company
which, along with IBM, Apple, Compaq & other more mainstream makes,
also resold Alpha Micro kit. Fascinatingly weird -- a sort of tiny,
rather proprietary minicomputer, based around the 68000 and
microcomputer technology.
