IMHO this is also the main hazard from the stored charge in CRTs. 
Although the voltage is high, there is not enough charge/energy to
kill you (if you have a heart problem, that's another matter, of course).
But the shock from said charge is enough to make you jerk, and maybe
either break the glass of the CRT (by hitting it with the tool you are 
holding, say) or drop the CRT.
