Yup, DOS networking "hooks". The interesting thing is that DOS doesn't 
deal with allocation or nasty things like that--all of the file access 
is essentially in the network interface.  I did a couple of those 
drivers for some really strange (sector != multiple of 256) alien 
filesystems.
